Houston, Texas — A man who was present at the luckiest time, was able to save a puppy from dying strangled when his leash got stuck in the elevator.
The young man, named Johnny Mathis, was coming out of the elevator when he saw a neighbor followed by a Pomeranian dog on a retractable leash. When the woman entered the elevator, the dog stopped before crossing the doors, and they closed, so the strap was caught while the elevator ascended to the sixth floor.
The gentleman noticed what happened. As the dog’s owner screamed unscathed inside the elevator, the young man did his best to remove the dog’s leash. After ten harrowing seconds, the young man was able to take off his leash and save the dog’s life. When the woman came down from the elevator, she was terrified because she believed it had been the end of her pet.
Fortunately, this was not the outcome, as it is not the first time that a dog leash has been trapped in an elevator. Some of these have run with luck, some unfortunately not. That’s why authorities warn owners that they should be alert to their pets when using an elevator or an escalator.
