translated from Spanish: Mexican economy down last quarter of 2019

Mexico’s economic activities contracted by 0.5% in October compared to the month leading up to seasonalized terms at the beginning of the fourth quarter, accentuating the stagnation in which Latin America’s second largest economy has been maintained this year, showed this Tuesday figures from the institute of statistics.
The collapse in the General Economic Activity Index (IGAE) matched a 0.5% contraction recorded in March and is the third negative reading in four months, according to data from the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI).
For large groups of activities, the primaries fell 1.6%, secondary schools were reduced by 1.1% and tertiary ones fell by 0.1%, during October compared to the previous month, the Institute said.
“We started the poor quarter, as the IGAE dropped -0.5% in October to be -0.7% below its level last year,” Bank of Mexico Deputy Governor Jonathan Heath wrote on his Twitter account.
“The level of secondary activities (industrial production) achieved in October of this year is the lowest since January 2014,” added the member of the Governing Board of the Bank of Mexico (Banxico).
The economy entered a technical recession in the first half and stagnated between July and September, according to revised official figures, while Banxico again reduced its 2019 growth projection again to a range of -0.2% to 0.2%.
In original figures, economic activity declined by 0.8% in the tenth month compared to October 2018.
