translated from Spanish: If the SAT finds irregularities in your statement, it will punish you

The Tax Administration Service (SAT) could temporarily restrict the use of digital seal certificates to taxpayers when they fall into an irregularity in the returns, said specialist Alejandro Ponce Rivera.
The partner of the firm Defensa Fiscal Grupo Jurídico commented that this mechanism is part of the Fiscal 2020 Miscellany, approved at the end of last year by Congress.
It noted that the cancellation of the use of the certificate will happen when the taxpayer fails to submit two monthly returns, without being consecutive, or has passed more than a month without having made the annual return with the monthly.

It will also happen for those who fall into a “fiscal discrepancy”, i.e. the declared revenue exceeds those invoiced. “That is considered an omitted income and the SAT may collect taxes.”
In such cases, he indicated, the taxpayer may correct or provide the evidence that his right agrees, through a request for clarification, to restore the use of that certificate.
Ponce Rivera commented that the SAT will give a period of 10 days to make the corresponding clarification and then a final resolution will be given, which is to resume or cancel permanently.

The new measures force taxpayers to “be more punctual” and be more careful on tax returns, “because the least non-compliance may have this consequence” because this year there will be immediate oversight, he warned.
In the face of this, the specialist asked taxpayers to get more involved in tax issues and even to oversee the work of accountants “because their money, business, wealth and freedom are at stake.”
