During a new day of protest, demonstrators captured Carabineros’ waterspears – or guanaco – throwing a strange yellowish liquid in the so-called Plaza de la Dignidad.
Through social media, many people reported the use of this strange liquid, claiming that the chemical causes skin burning and vomiting. This is why the Public Prosecution Service began to investigate what it is.
According to La Tercera, prosecutor Macarena Cañas asked The Investigation Police (PDI) to take samples of that rare liquid for analysis.
For his part, Carabineros stated that “as soon as an unusual coloration was detected, the water-throwing trolley was immediately removed”, and that they will verify “the origin of this situation”, and that once “confirmed history is available, it will be reported in a manner timely.”
Some videos and images from the march showed some protesters with red skin.
“Minister Mañalich, I asked you in the question and I insist on you today. We need assurances that Carabineros is not causing harm to the health of the protesters. Action must be taken promptly to find out what contains this water released by Carabineros,” said MP Miguel Crispi.
