Mexico City.- The Ministry of Health (Ssa) reported that they add up to five suspected cases of coronavirus: three in Jalisco, one in Michoacán and one in Mexico City.In an update of its daily report, the unit detailed that the capital’s case is recorded in Mayor Miguel Hidalgo and corresponds to a 28-year-old woman who arrived from Wuhan, China, to the country on January 10 and began with symptoms on January 19. No symptomatic contacts are recorded so far. A second likely case is reported in Morelia, Michoacán, and corresponds to a 31-year-old man who also arrived from that Asian resort on January 14 and began with respiratory symptoms on the 19th.

This is the same case reported on Thursday afternoon by the Michoacán Health Secretariat and does not record contacts with symptoms so far. The remaining three suspected cases are reported in Tepatitlán, Jalisco, and reported from Thursday morning. These correspond to a 42-year-old man who arrived in the country on January 10 from Wuhan, China, where he began an outbreak of pneumonia caused by a new coronavirus, and began with symptoms on January 13. As well as two women aged 2 and 37, who were in direct contact with the man and have symptoms from 13 and 19 January, respectively.

The Ssa detailed that the diagnostic tests of these people are already in progress at the National Institute of Epidemiological Diagnosis and Reference (InDRE). To date, there have been seven possible cases of coronavirus in Mexico: one in Tamaulipas, two in Mexico City, one in Michoacán and three in Jalisco.The case of Tamaulipas and one of the CDMX have already been ruled out because the tests were negative.
With information at the last cut, no positive cases have been confirmed in Mexico to 2019-nCoV, the Ssa report is set out.
He added that of the seven suspected cases, 57 percent belong to the female sex, with a median age of 37.

None of the possible cases have severe symptomatology. The unit argued that InDRE has developed the methodology to identify the 2019-nCoV virus by RT-PCR/DNA sequencing and is the first laboratory in Latin America to have it. In addition, it will be the only one at the national level that will process samples of possible cases.
As a WHO(World Health Organization) designated Collaborating Centre for Biosafety, it has certified personnel on the packaging, biosecurity and biocustody of biological samples in each of the 31 laboratories formed by the National Network of Public Health Laboratories, the report notes.
The unit recommended that the population implement the etiquette sneeze: cover nose and mouth when coughing, preferably with a disposable handkerchief, or always sneeze towards the inner angle of the arm. It also records possible infections of this new virus in Ireland, Italy, the United Kingdom, the Philippines and Australia.As well as confirmed cases in China, Korea, Japan, Singapore and Thailand. The map also records how the virus scales and includes links to official government pages in cities or countries with cases.
