Sinaloa. – With the reinforcement of naval intelligence, members of the Special Operations Unit (UNOPES) of the Mexican Armed Secretariat (Semar) arrested Ismael Quintero Arellanes, nephew of the drug trafficker, Rafael Caro Quintero in Culiacán, Sinaloa.
Through the exchange of information with authorities of the United States of America, it was known that Quintero Arellanes, integrated the pacific cartel split that head Ovidio and Iván Guzmán, sons of Joaquín Archivaldo Guzmán Loera, dedicated to the manufacture and distribution of marijuana, heroin and methamphetamines, and was subsequently illegally introduced to the United States of America.
The order is for Provisional Detention for International Extradition purposes was completed in Culiacán Sinaloa. It is required by the District for the Eastern District of New York, United States of America to be prosecuted for criminal association, health and unlawful carrying of firearms offences.
According to federal government sources, the operation was carried out in a residence of the Stanza Toscana fractionation located in the Valle Alto de Culiacán sector without any firing. The naval elements were supported by an MI-17 helicopter artillery to provide perimeter security while the surgical operation was underway.
The operation kicked off at around 14:00 a.m. from the center of the country, when the target was located, stopped and immediately transferred to a nearby park, where the MI-17 helicopter was descended to move the detainee to prevent him from being rescued by members of the Pacific Cartel.
The now detained was transferred and made available to the District Judge Specializing in the Criminal Prosecution System of the Federal Criminal Justice Center, in Mexico City based in the Reclusorio Norte, to define its legal status according to the corresponding procedure.
