Mexico City police officers assaulted Pumas player Alfredo Saldívar and his family in intending to check his vehicle on Avenida Revolución; even injured his wife, Maria Clemente, who is pregnant.
She posted photographs on her social media, showing her injuries.
“A CDMX patrol stopped us for no reason. I come with my son, my husband and I’m pregnant. A woman wanted to check my bag, saying no, she climbed on me and hit me,” she recounted on Twitter on Thursday.
In a statement, the Ministry of Public Security of Mexico City detailed that the events occurred on Avenida Revolución and Andrea Cataño, almost corner with Axis 6, “when the driver of the vehicle was intercepted by two motor patrols, who aggressively requested them to descend for a preventive review”.

Not having an order to stop him, the Secretariat added, “the citizen refused to come down from the unit, which generated a discussion with the policemen who were at the scene as part of Operation Rubik, who aims to identify vehicles with theft reports.
Two uniforms with an aggressive attitude tried to get a pregnant woman out of the car, while another cop pulled the driver down. These actions caused injuries to the woman, so the Ministry of Citizen Security has already initiated an administrative research folder in the Directorate-General for Internal Affairs, in order to review the actions of uniforms and the lack of protocols”.
In its statement, the Secretariat stated that it “totally disapproves of the actions of the staff and remains in constant contact with the legal representative of those affected, in order to arrive at the clarification of the facts, and to determine the responsibility of the personnel”.
