translated from Spanish: ‘No justification is to send a plane to China to bring Mexicans’: Ebrard

At least 18 Mexicans are in the coronavirus risk zone in China, of which four can return to Mexico, however the Chancellery notes that “it would not be justified” to send a plane by them,
“At this time, at this time, it would not be justified for us to send an aircraft at this time, we will see later,” Said Chancellor Marcelo Ebrard at a conference.
Only four of them can return to our country, due to the restrictions of the government of that country. Ebrard said the Mexican government will ask other countries that have sent planes to withdraw their citizens for help.
“And we are in talks with the four who tell us, the four of them, who tell us, “Hey, I do want to get out,” to see if we can get help from some other country that is sending their support, by number, it’s very big planes to be sent,” Ebrard explained.
The Chancellor stated that in cases of connationals who requested to return, they should remain in quarantine, hours after the Emergency Committee of the World Health Organization (WHO) announced the declaration of the global state of emergency to prevent the spread of coronavirus (2019-nC0V).
He explained that in the case of 14 Mexicans living in Wuhan they have a number of restrictions, because their family, mainly couple, is Chinese or Chinese, so they cannot leave due to the local government’s readiness.
However, he emphasized that there were six connationals who had contacted the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (RES) to request support for return.
Last October, the Mexican government sent a Mexican Air Force plane to relocate the remains of singer José José, who died in the United States, from Miami, Florida.
In November, the government sent an Air Force aircraft also to move former President Evo Morales from Bolivia to Mexico. The route was filled with last-minute changes by several governments that denied the use of their airspace, affecting the initially planned flight plan.
Mexicans coming back, quarantined
He stated that everyone returning from this area should remain in quarantine, “because if you integrate them and you don’t know if any of them have that virus it would be counterproductive.”
At a press conference, he reiterated that President Andrés Manuel López Obrador instructed the integration of a work program coordinated by the Secretary of Health.
It reported that this 30 January, in agreement with the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), they met with 90 virology specialists from the region to plan how they will respond in these countries.

“Today in the morning there was a conversation of virologists from Latin America and the Caribbean on the subject, where they asked what we are going to do, who can produce vaccines, how it will be managed. A global emergency is already being declared, WHO, the World Health Organization has already declared so,” the secretary stressed.
He stated that from today to 13 February, 90 specialists from Latin America and the Caribbean will participate, “because we all have to prepare for what may happen in the coming weeks, regarding this emergency or others”.
The federal official recalled that Mexico recently convened a MEETING of CELAC to strengthen the Latin American and Caribbean region, and that at the meeting of 29 countries, it was agreed to develop 14 productive projects, including that of this group of experts in virology.
