Authorities of the State of Mexico reported on Sunday the detention of three suspected members of a cell of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel, linked to the cases of 10 homicides recorded in the municipality of Zumpango, since May 2019.
When they were captured, three vehicles and a shotgun were secured.
“These three individuals, identified as Francisco Javier ‘N’, alias ‘El Cachorro’, 29 years old; Ashli Axel ‘N’, aka ‘El Caballero’, 19, and Aarón ‘N’, 20, were insured on the Melchor Ocampo to Zumpango road, at the height of Ejidos de Villa María, in the municipality of Melchor Ocampo,” the Mexican Prosecutor’s Office said, in a statement.
“At the time of the arrest three vehicles were insured: one of the Volkswagen brand, type Golf GTI, black, model 2016, with traffic plates of the State of Hidalgo; another Volkswagen, type Jetta Classic, white, model 2009, with circulation plates of the State of Mexico, and a car of the brand Lincoln, type MKZ, type MKZ, white, with circulation plates of the State of Mexico, same that would have robbed the owners moments before their arrest,” he added.
The detainees, according to the Prosecutor’s Office, were contesting the control of criminal activities in Zumpango with a rival crime gang, identified as Los Sapos, and this confrontation would have resulted in the murders.
Among the homicides to which they are linked is a case of May 9, 2019, when the bodies of two 26-year-old men were located on Avenida los Hornos, Fracción Los Sauces.
