Mexico City.- Elements of the National Guard seized 50 thousand cigars of illicit origin in the facilities of the Central Bus Terminal of Norte, located in the mayorship Gustavo A. Madero. This product was to be marketed on the black market regardless of the negative effects on consumer health. Thanks to the inspection and surveillance actions carried out by the feds, the goods were detected, hidden in a cardboard box, at an inspection point in the waiting room where X-rays are used.
The owner of the package stated that he was transporting five cardboard boxes with plastic bags inside, and that he was heading to the city of Irapuato, Guanajuato.At the time the uniformed inspected more closely the suspicious package, found 2 thousand,500 packs containing 20 cigars each. The mechanics did not have the documentation required by the Federal Commission for the Protection of Health Risk (Cofepris) for marketing. Upon the possible commission of a crime, the owner of that package was arrested and entered the National Detention Register, while being read the Bill of Rights Assisting Persons in Detention. It was then made available to public prosecutors, who carried out the corresponding investigations in order to de-link responsibilities.
