After the federation confirmed the first case of Coronavirus (2019-nCoV), in Mexico by the National Institute of Epidemiological Diagnosis and Reference (INDRE) in the country, the Michoacán Ministry of Health (SSM) called for strengthening prevention measures.
Epidemiological surveillance at Michoacan maritime and airport terminals was agreed on a permanent basis through the State Committee on Health Safety; as well as in the entity’s eight health jurisdictions and hospitals, in order to identify suspected cases and minimise the chances of infection.
It should be noted that this health body, consists of the SSM, Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS), Institute of Security and Social Services of State Workers (ISSSTE), as well as the Ministry of National Defense (Sedena), which is committed to the well-being of the population.
In view of this, there are sanitary filters installed; in addition, the intentional search protocols for serious respiratory diseases associated with this or other virus in hospitals were also strengthened.
Members of the Committee reiterated the call for the population not to be alarmed and to reinforce prevention actions, such as hand washing, protected sneezing, not touching their faces, nose, mouth and eyes with dirty hands.
Clean and disinfect commonly used surfaces and objects (houses, offices, closed sites, transportation, meeting houses), stay at home when you have breathing conditions, and go to a doctor if any of the symptoms occur (fever greater than 38oC, headache, sore throat, runny nose, etc.)
This morning, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador in his “morning” meeting with the media reiterated that the country is ready to face Covid-19.
He also pledged to keep the population informed to avoid “yellowing and exaggerations,” the first representative emphasized.
