translated from Spanish: The “stories” arrive on Twitter

Twitter announced yesterday that it is testing its own version of that ephemeral content that is already familiar to us on Instagram, Facebook and Whatsapp: the stories. This new format is going to be called “Fleets” and unlike traditional tweets can’t receive Likes, Replies or Retweets. Unsurprisingly, they will disappear completely after 24 hours.

We’ve been listening to this feedback and working to create new capabilities that address some of the anxieties that hold people back from talking on Twitter. Today, in Brazil only, we’re starting a test (on Android and iOS) for one of those new capabilities. It’s called Fleets. pic.twitter.com/6MLs8irb0c — Kayvon Beykpour (@kayvz)

The fleets are not private but a little less accessible: they will not circulate on the timeline nor can they be inserted on external websites, but will be visible in the Search sections and Momentos.Si the account has open the direct messages, you can reply to the fleet through them. And similar to other apps, you can also react with some emoji. Twitter says fleets will start working for a few months for Brazilian users on both iOS and Android before launching them globally.
