President Sebastián Piñera’s announcement on Wednesday, who decreed a state of catastrophe to deal with the spread of coronavirus, implies that 16 senior officers of the Armed Forces will be appointed as “Zone Chiefs”, who will be in charge of each of the regions of the country.
This is indicated in Decree No. 104, which decrees the constitutional state of emergency of catastrophe, by public calamity, which bears the signature of President Sebastián Piñera and Ministers Gonzalo Blumel (Interior) and Alberto Espina (Defense), and who was sent this late to the Comptroller General of the Republic for his right.
