Bolivia will enter this Sunday in total quarantine, as a new measure to combat coronavirus, announced the country’s acting president Jeanine Añez on Saturday (21.03.2020).
The total quarantine in effect at midnight. “It is a tough but necessary decision for the good of all,” she said in a message to the country, which so far records 19 confirmed cases.
The measure implies that “we must be in the house 24 hours a day” because “it is the way to defeat the coronavirus,” he added.
Only one person for each family will be able to go out for shopping at supply centers that will attend daily until noon.
From this Very Saturday, the closure of air and land borders applies and interdepartmental passenger transport was limited. The movement of public and private vehicles is also prohibited, with the exception of those moving supplies.
Since the middle of this week, there has already been a limited quarantine in the Andean country, with measures such as reducing working hours and bans on night traffic.
In addition, Añez indicated that in the following days several aid for citizens will be activated, such as the payment of a bonus for families, the reduction of basic service fees and economic support for small and medium-sized industries.
