Oaxaca, Mexico.- During his tour in the state of Oaxaca the Mexican representative, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, argued that the price of oil has had a decline worldwide, but that his decision was to lower the cost of gasoline in order to support the local economy.
He stressed that it was a decision he made, “now with this crisis, not only in the fall in the price of gasolines, but financial economic crisis that caused the Coronavirus pandemic, lowers the price of gasolines… we made the decision to lower the price.”

López Obrador emphasized that he offered that he would not raise gasoline prices, “I offered that it was not going to increase gasoline in real terms and I have fulfilled that, it has not increased gasoline since I am in the presidency”.
For the president the cost of current gasoline is due to his decision, “I decided to lower the price to help us temper what the crisis doesn’t feel so much, because as the gas increases everything increases, there is a snout… we’re going to keep these prices and they’re likely to fall a little bit more.”
