Faced with the increase in cases of coronavirus COVID-19, the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) opened a hotline to reduce the concentration of people in clinics and hospitals.
The «Telephone Medical Guidance and COVID-19» strategy will operate under number 800-2222-668, with the aim of preventing respiratory infections.

According to IMSS, the line is served by specialist physicians who will provide information guidance and recommendations, to «mitigate the spread of the disease».
The first ones doctors will do will be «Do you have a respiratory illness and you want to know if you have COVID-19 infection data? Have you had contact with any confirmed cases of COVID-19 or in the study and have doubts?»

Physicians will provide information for anyone who may be a suspicious case or has been in contact with a confirmed or suspected case; to recommend prevention measures; they will tell when to go to a medical unit; who is taking the sample; may prescribe disability, and identify warning signs.

«The Telephone Medical Guidance strategy was implemented from March 2019 and to date more than eight guidelines have been provided in this way, 65% of calls are made by women,» IMSS said in a statement.
The free line serves daily from 08:00 to 20:00 hours, including public holidays.
