translated from Spanish: CORE Metropolitano transfers $9.315 million to municipalities to face COVID-19 expenses

At the Plenary session of the Metropolitan Regional Council on 1 April, a major project was approved that transfers $9 billion to 49 RM municipalities to address the health costs incurred by Covid-19.
The minimum base contribution to each municipality was $50 million and the distribution of resources was made proportionately in relation to the number of people enrolled in Primary Health Care (STE) in each municipality.
The moneys will be transferred directly to the communes and may be used in the purchase of medical supplies and equipment, the recruitment of staff, fuel expenditure for ambulances, sanitization services, and in general to the emergency costs in which municipalities are incurred by the pandemic. In addition, another $600 million was earmarked for the most regional expenditures to be incurred by the Metropolitan Intendency, particularly in the sanitization of crowded places.
The Metropolitan Intendant, Felipe Guevara, stated that “this measure of moving resources to the municipality is only one of those that we will take, since this is a regional problem that sometimes exceeds the communes. Without a doubt, we thank the regional councilors for their support for this project that comes to give the communes a break and that will allow the municipalities, who better know where the shoe is tightened, those who decide which one to occupy it. Today people urgently need help to help them and the municipalities, who are closest to them, will be able to have the resources to do so.”
TELETON FOUNDATION
On the occasion, a $814 million Teleton Foundation project was also unanimously approved, where the animator Mario Kreutzberger (Don Francisco) and the Metropolitan Region Intendent, Felipe Guevara, participated remotely.
This is the “Manage Inclusion” program, which seeks to deliver emotional, work and identity help, so that young people with disabilities can better integrate into society
“There are more than 11,000 minors who are cared for by the Telethon Foundation. And this project seeks to give more confidence, more autonomy to these young people, without diagnostic discrimination. We have always supported the Teleton and this project goes in line with the important work they do,” said Intendente Guevara
Mario Kreutzberger, meanwhile, highlighted the SUPPORT of the CORE in this and other previous initiatives, such as the 4D machine for the realization of prostheses, already in operation. “The Rodin is an extraordinary breakthrough. It’s like having an abacus and then moving to a computer. That’s one of the two or three major advances the Telethon has had in its history, because we’re going to be able to do the prosthetics of children from regions with absolute precision,” he said.
Another topic discussed at the session was the proposal to amend the media fund’s bases – in view of the COVID-19 crisis – which would increase the remuneration of project implementers to 100% and the delivery of a bonus point to projects coronavirus, which was approved by 32 votes in favour and 2 abstentions
The Plenary Session was first held by videoconference and was streamed through all CORE social networks. The 34 counselors participated on the occasion, who agreed to continue their sessions along this route.
