Angostura, Sinaloa.- The Covid-19 global pandemic is unfortunately affecting all the extracts of society and today it hits the agricultural day laborers of the Evora region by paralyzing the activity and leaving almost 3,000 people unemployed. Incar Artemio Angulo Angulo, president of the Regional Union of Self-Transport of Personnel to the Field, says that many of these people live up to the day with what they earn in the work and by being left without the safe livelihood the economic crisis then will be reflected in their homes, because they will not even have for tortillas, and for that reason they will be very hard to get ahead in this quarantine.
The leader of the day laborers expresses that what affected them the most was the prevention measure that the state, municipal and health authorities sought on to avoid the agglomeration of people, because when they work on a site cutting certain vegetables they are more than 20 or 30 together, because the producer wants yield to export as soon as possible.” Thank God to this day we haven’t had any reports that a day laborer has become infected with coronavirus, but, of course, it’s better to prevent than to regret. Actually, it is hitting the family economy of those working in the field, because around 3,000 day laborers have already been out of work. Everything was paralyzed, the borders were closed, the shipments of vegetables, the cuts, the cuts are not moving, and for this reason all the day-to-day people are standing. This coronavirus carries us down the street of bitterness, the migrant day laborers did not withstand the situation and most of them already took their way to southern Mexico, from where they usually come, with how little they had saved they came to their homes. The big problem is presenting with local day laborers, they are at home but not working to support the family. If working the situation is difficult, now without doing anything or having any resources to bring the children to eat. Let’s hope that this will be composed later, so that the workers have a respite and some work, because now things are very sad”, explains eescar Artemio Angulo leader of the day laborers.
