The 32-year-old couple will face the charge of “endangering public health” in the complaint made by the Ministry of the Interior on Saturday, for going to the line of a supermarket in Auñoa, despite being infected with coronavirus.
A 32-year-old couple was found in a row in a supermarket in Auñoa despite being infected by Covid-19, so they were intercepted by Carabineros and the Ministry of the Interior urged a complaint against them. In the legal action they are accused as consummate perpetrators of the crime of endangering public health, according to article 318 of the Penal Code.Within the penalties to which the couple risks is the “minor prison in its minimum degree or fine of six to twenty tax units per month”, values would range between 300 thousand and one million pesos. Regarding the situation, Commander Rodrigo Soto of Santiago Oriente Prefecture said at a news outlet that both “immediately acknowledged the fact,” arguing that they broke the quarantine “because of the need to buy groceries” and added that “it had been detected as of April 2, they had to quarantine for at least 14 days.” From Carabineros they also indicated that both were transferred to health hotels arranged by the Ministry of Health and that they were made known.
