Chiapas authorities reported on the discovery outside his home of the body of a man with COVID-19, in the municipality of Ocosingo.
Various local media reported that it would have been a suicide. In its statement, the State Prosecutor’s Office only indicated that the body of the 54-year-old man was placed “pending a tree outside his home”, and that the case is already being investigated.
“After hearing the criminal news reported by francisco León community authorities, this Prosecutor’s Office initiated cabinet and field proceedings to clarify the facts and de-separate responsibilities,” the Prosecutor’s Office said.
“Ministerial police, experts and specialized public ministries arrived at the site to continue the proceedings and in coordination with staff from the Ministry of Health to move the body to the Medical Forensic Service,” he added.
Meanwhile, the State Ministry of Health referred that staff from the Health District number VI, accompanied by elements of the State Police, Regional Prosecutor’s Office and IMSS Welfare, carried out the protocol of handling corpses by COVID-19, transporting the body to the ejidal pantheon in a coffin.
“The persons who manipulated the body will be kept under observation by IMSS Welfare staff for constant assessment; The house of the West was disinfected and psychological support was also provided to the direct family and their contacts,” he said.
“In the town Francisco León a minutes of agreements were signed so that the inhabitants allow to strengthen the activities of the Day of Healthy Distance, as well as the preventive measures of the strategy ‘Informed Housing’ with the placement of stickers and orientation to the population; in addition to an approach by the authorities to reduce harassment of suspicious cases,” he added.
