The Citibanamex Center, located in Mexico City, will be enabled as a temporary hospital to care for mild and moderate patients with COVID-19 coronavirus.
The event company OCESA reported that this “COVID-19 Temporary Unit” will have a maximum capacity of 854 beds for patients requiring oxygen therapy, 35 intermediate therapy spaces, specific areas for the medical and laboratory body, as well as patients to intensive care units.

It will be the National University, through the Faculty of Medicine, that is responsible for the technical, medical and hospital decisions for the work of enabling the Unit. In addition to that it will maintain coordination with health institutions.
According to the company, the Ministry of Health of Mexico City will assume the “direction, operation and medical supply, determine the beginning of each stage, as well as the procedures of valuation and entry of patients, in order to put their health in the hands of professionals”.
16 companies initiative
OCESA stated that this initiative is a measure agreed by 16 companies and foundations, promoted by the Inter-American Entertainment Corporation (CIE) and coordinated by the Carlos Slim Foundation and UNAM.

“The project involves Fundación Carlos Slim, Fundación Telmex Telcel, Fundación Inbursa, CIE, Walmart Mexico and Central America, Bimbo, Barcel, Fundación Sertull, Citibanamex, Fundación Alfredo Harp Helú, Fundación Coca Cola México, Coca Cola FEMSA, Goldman Sachs, Codere, HSBC and Coopel, who made a joint donation of the order of seven hundred million pesos for the planning, construction and enablement of the Unit”, he explained in a statement, where he also said that 50% of the resources are contributed by the companies.
