translated from Spanish: Deceased in Independence after coronavirus outbreak at Las Rosas Foundation home

Through a statement, the Municipality of Independence announced that the Fundación las Rosas reported on the death of one of its residents by covid-19 and about the diagnosis of other people who tested positive.
“Unfortunately, we must confirm the death of a person in the home of the Las Rosas de Independencia Foundation. At the moment they are applying all the monitoring protocols with due isolation and protection of both the residents and those who work in the compound,” said the mayor of the commune, Gonzalo Durán.
In a statement, the Las Rosas Foundation reported that on April 9, a worker had respiratory symptoms, which was later confirmed as coronavirus. They explained that “known this information, the respective protocol is applied, especially monitoring the collaborators and residents who had contact with the infected collaborator. So far, we can confirm that 5 other people have tested positive and are infected, 3 of them residents.”
Then, they added that “today, we have to report the unfortunate death of one of the affected residents, a person over the age of 80, whose health was already very delicate, as he suffered from various basic diseases. The Foundation has already contacted its family members directly to inform them of the unfortunate news.”
The Rose Foundation explained that since 23 February “strict health safety protocols have been established, consistent with the measures subsequently established for all ELOMs in the country by SENAMA and the Ministry of Health: we suspended visits and took the sanctioning and hygiene measures, both of the facilities and of our employees, which are subject to due health checks”.
