translated from Spanish: New quarantine: Fernandez received the expert committee that advises him

Alberto Fernández met this noon with the committee of experts who make up medical and scientific advisors, with whom he analyzed “the steps to follow” for the containment of the coronavirus pandemic, days after the quarantine. Before Sunday, the last day of mandatory quarantine so far, the president is expected to announce a new extension of isolation at least in the country’s major urban centers.

The President was accompanied by WHO/PAHO Special Ambassador for Latin America and the Caribbean, Mirta Roses; the scientific director of the Guest Foundation, Pedro Cahn; the head of the Argentine Society of Infectology, Omar Sued; the president of the Argentine Emergency Society, Gonzalo Camargo; and specialists Angela Spagnuolo de Gentile, Gustavo Lopardo, Florence Cahn, Carlota Russ, Eduardo López, and Luis Cámera.

Several of the members of this group advised in recent days to continue with the mandatory quarantine and to start to engage in specific activities in particular districts, where there is no circulation of the virus. Several provinces in the country did not register cases days ago, so some of their cities could slowly begin to open up or grant more exceptions such as Jujuy, where outdoor physical exercise was enabled.

In the City of Buenos Aires, the second district in number of cases and with community circulation, mandatory isolation will continue. “There is no room for loosening insulation. We don’t have the expectation at the moment,” said Diego Santilli on Radio La Red.
The representative was accompanied by Chief of Staff, Santiago Cafiero, the Minister of Health, Ginés Gonzáles García, and the Secretary of Access to Health, Carla Vizzotti.
