translated from Spanish: IMSS rights may defer payments on their loans

The Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) signed an agreement with the National Commission for the Protection and Defense of Financial Services Users (CONDUSEF) and 42 financial institutions to defer loan payments or entitlement loans, over the next three months.
Zoé Robledo, director of the institute, reported that the grace period would include May, June and July to support vulnerable groups such as retirees and pensioners, as well as staff working at IMSS.
In the case of the institute’s more than 3,000 workers, he stressed that many of them are medical and nursing personnel working to save lives. “We think it’s a way to mitigate the economic side of the big challenges they have,” he said.

In fact, during the press conference, in Palacio Nacional, at 18:30 a.m., a break was made to acknowledge with applause the medical staff attending the health emergency by COVID-19. The manager invited people across the country to join this support every day at the same time.
“Let everyone from home stand by a window, walk up to a balcony, climb onto a rooftop, applaud, in that gesture express support for this staff who have done a truly extraordinary job,” he called.
Robledo stressed that the agreement with financial institutions is a joint agreement that will have no hidden costs, interest, fines, commissions, surcharges or reports in the Credit Bureau. This will benefit 361,701 people who had managed a discounted loan to pension, retirement or payroll, he said.
The IMSS director explained that in the next payment that the beneficiaries of this agreement receive, the monthly loan discount will still apply. However, 24 hours later, they will receive a deposit for the same amount discounted in the same bank account.
With regard to Solidarity Credits to the Word, aimed at small businesses that did not fire their workers during the first quarter of the year, the IMSS holder reported that in three days they already total 66,590 validated registrations, to whom support for 25 thousand pesos will be deposited through the Federation Treasury.
He mentioned that there are 645,102 solidarity companies employing 5.5 million workers. There are still 8,264 applications from companies that aspire to access this program to access credit.
