Documentary short film premiere “Hidden”
In a dance show, the Ballet de Santiago and the Santiago Philharmonic Orchestra build the plot on the stage and take the applause of the audience. But magic is also possible thanks to a great human team that does a job, for most, totally invisible.
Who are they and what do the people who work behind the scenes of a great theater do? That is the story told by the documentary Hidden, which premieres this Wednesday, April 29, at 20:00 hours, on the digital platform Municipal Delivery in the framework of the International Day of Dance. Tramoyas, illuminators, technicians and designers are the protagonists of this documentary short film directed by Gabriel Bucher, audiovisual filmmaker and former dancer of the Ballet de Santiago.
Hidden was filmed during the preparations for the ballet La Cinderella, a production premiered at the Municipal de Santiago in 2018. The film shows the public the unknown work of those working on stage. “What motivated me to make this documentary was to be able to show the public what it never sees, because he always sees magic on stage, but that magic is created and produced by people who do not appear on stage, and who thanks to their work, which functions like a clock, bring the shows to life. And they are just as important as the artists who are on stage,” says Bucher, its creator.
This short film was premiered at the In-Edit International Film and Documentary Festival in 2019, where it received an honorable mention. Since then, it has been part of the official selection of other festivals in Chile and the world; and in March this year he won the Best Documentary Short Film Award at the Amazing Shorts and Movies Festival in Madrid.
Hidden premieres at the Municipal Delivery this Wednesday, April 29, at 20:00 hours and will be available for a week in www.municipal.cl.
