The municipal president of Ruiz, Nayarit, Jesus “N” was arrested for the likely crime of aggravated equal rape to the detriment of a minor.
The State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) reported in a statement that on 28 April an apprehension order was obtained and executed against the mayor, who became available to the supervisory judge, who imposed informal pre-trial detention as an injunctive measure.
Early reports of this case indicate that the assault was committed, after the mayor participated in a party, despite quarantine by coronavirus COVID-19.
Two public prosecutors from the Sexual Offences Investigation Unit filed the allegation and presented the evidence against the mayor to the judge.
The defendant requested the extension of the constitutional deadline for exercising his defence, indicating 16:00 hours on Monday, May 4 to hold the hearing in which the judge decides whether or not to issue an order of attachment to proceedings.
