translated from Spanish: College of Teachers calls on the Government to “implement” the proposals of the Covid-19 Social Board

The president of the College of Teachers, Mario Aguilar, called on the Government to start implementing the proposals made by the Covid-19 Social Board on school education.
As reported on Tuesday, two weeks ago the guild presented a document based on three axes to the Ministry of Education: the well-being of school communities; curriculum prioritization, evaluative and management adjustments, and remote education.
Among their recommendations, they called for eliminating the repetitions for this year, developing an emergency curriculum that is valid for two years, establishing promotional criteria based on “training assessments”, all “recognizing that for learning will be indispensable first to achieve emotional balance”, in addition to suspending this year’s Simce test.
In Aguilar’s view, Covid-19’s new 1,373 cases are “very alarming, and it would be absolutely irresponsible to sustain the idea of returning to classes in May.”
“We must start implementing some of the recommendations given by experts from the Social Bureau itself, in the sense of, for example, suspending the Simce, it seems to us that it makes no sense, it is absurd, that it is intended to keep the Simce in these conditions,” he added.
“With regard to the issue of curricular adequacy, which should have their priority in the emotional accompaniment of our students rather than in strict curricular coverage, as well as in flexibilization with respect to assessments,” he concluded.
