Michoacán.- Through a missive researchers, teachers and education analysts in Mexico, they urged the governments of Michoacán and Mexico to stop the repression against the students, teachers and workers of the Official Normal Schools of the State of Michoacán.
They point out that they are installing a resolution dialogue to address the demands and needs of the normalist community, concerned about the reduction of enrolment in their schools and the promotion of regional educational projects; “In addition, we demand the release of prisoners and the re-enrollment of those who were expelled from their institutions for expressing their dissatisfaction with normal effects.”
The document signed by Tatiana Coll (UPN Ajusco), Manuel Gil Antón (COLMEX), Peter McLaren (Instituto Mclaren) Luis Navarro Navarro (La Jornada), Hugo Aboites (UAM-X), Elsie Rockwell (CINVESTAV), Alberto Arnaut (The College Imanol Ordorika (UNAM), Abelardo Carro (Normal de Tlaxcala), Juan Manuel Rendón (BENM), Cesar Valdovinos Reyes (CINPECER-CLACSO), Executive Executive Committee Democratic Section Section 9 SNTE-CNTE and others, demand that they desist from labour harassment against eight workers and teachers from the normal school of Tiripetío , Michoacán who are being notified of termination and who have already suspended their wages on 15 May.
“We call for prompt intervention by the state and national human rights commissions; we express broad solidarity with those affected and strong support for the historical struggles of normalism in Mexico.”
