Lázaro Cárdenas, Michoacán.- Despite the municipality of Lázaro Cárdenas, more than 50% of Covid-19’s positive cases are concentrated, the inhabitants have chosen to ignore the numbers and health prevention measures, and continue to organize and attend religious events, sports activities and parties, which put their health at risk, as reported by Moisés Hernández Lozano, president of the civil association “El Bejuco en Movimiento” , which represents port communities.
In a radio interview, he mentioned that the inhabitants of the port remain in an attitude of disbelief in the face of the pandemic, as a result of the tiredness of previous administrations, however, he said that from the municipal authorities, he has not been given a correct dissemination or treatment of the subject:
“It is sad to know how we are dying, how we are spreading here in the municipality, and the disbelief of the people who by the governments who lied so much to the people, people no longer want to believe, but also the lack of effort of the authorities, in this case the municipals, from the go to spread to the coast, to the communities that are the least infected , and that we are afraid of an outbreak in a community in the face of the shortcomings we have.”
The president of the association detailed that in Lázaro Cárdenas, people are concentrated in groups of up to 30 people, carry out sports activities, organize parties and attend religious events, without any authority of the municipality intervening.
Because of the above, Moisés Hernández called on the municipal government to “have a heavy hand” with the implementation of more demanding measures that ensure the well-being of the inhabitants, “even if the population does not agree”, as well as the presence of the National Guard in LZC.
“The pandemic we have in Lazarus is already so great that more than 50 percent of all those infected in the state are so great, and that’s very serious about how many people we are. Something serious is going on here on the coast.”
Hernández Lozano began a day of sanitization in public spaces of the communities that “El Bejuco en Movimiento” represents; three volunteer members ended up infected with coronavirus and are currently carrying out their recovery, as reported in that interview.
“It’s worth knowing that we’re a group of volunteers trying to get older, and we’ve got it and seeing that it doesn’t echo our effort,” he lamented.
He also called on the government of the municipality, headed by Itzé Camacho Zapiain, to order the suspension of activities in the company, Arcelot Mital, as it is a red focus on the contagions of Covid-19.
Until the cut made yesterday, Lázaro Cardenas has 577 positive cases of the disease, 42 new cases in just 24 hours.
