translated from Spanish: We can rule out pandemic overflow, says AMLO

President Andrés Manuel López Obrador said it can already be ruled out that there is an “overflow” of the COVID-19 pandemic in Mexico, thanks to measures of sound distance.
“Most important of all is that, despite the suffering in the loss of human life, we have been able to avoid an overflow,” he said this Friday at his morning conference.
He explained that although he did not like comparisons with other countries, he said that “we are not in the situation that unfortunately other countries are.”

“We were also helped by the strategy of Mexican doctors, Mexican scientists, to flatten the curve, because if the measures of sound distance had not been taken and people had not helped us as they are helping us, then the pandemic would have completely overflowed and we would have no way of caring for the sick and saving lives.”

However, Mexico ranked tenth among the countries with the most coronavirus deaths, with 6,510 recorded as of Thursday, surpassing Canada with 6,267 deaths, according to the Johns Hopkins University count.
First, the United States is ranked, with 94,688 deaths.
Undersecretary Hugo López-Gatell said that 59,567 confirmed cases have accumulated and of these 12,905 are active, of people who have had symptoms in the last 14 days.
