translated from Spanish: Chilean U. law students start online stoppage and call for flexibility in the middle of remote classes

The Center of Law Students of the University of Chile (CED) reported that I started an online stoppage before distance classes, a decision that was adopted by 82% of 1,141 students who participated in a consultation, Emol reported.
Students questioned the conditions under which classes are taking place, and ensured that the apprehensions were expressed to the student authorities at the beginning of the semester.
“We are very concerned that the dean and his team are looking to develop the academic semester under conditions of normality that do not exist, allowing teachers to ask for assistance, increase the amount of reading, set extra classes, all on the basis of the teacher’s unrestricted teaching freedom,” the CED said.
“We seek through this mobilization that the Faculty of Law will ensure the minimum conditions of flexibility taking into account the dramatic moment that the country is experiencing, so that the exercise of academic activity is adequate, proportionate and aware of the moment that is lived,” the Law Student Center said.
According to a student consultation, 84% said they had trouble concentrating, 82% headaches, 73% back or neck pains or 74% eye pain, in the context of online classes.
“We know that the crisis doesn’t start or end in college, but we know that it has the tools to ensure greater conditions of flexibility for the entire community,” the CED said.
