translated from Spanish: “Fulfilling a Dream”: Announce distance study leveling for more than 2,000 vulnerable women across the country

Prodemu, together with Commitment Country and other private entities, in the context of this pandemic and health crisis, will carry out a process to help adult women who have defected the educational system complete their education through the leveling and validation of studies, called “Fulfilling a Dream”. This is considering that, according to data from the institution’s Centre for Gender Studies, 41.67% of 60 thousand women in that institution have not completed their middle education training.
There are a number of reasons why women drop out of their middle schooling; homework and care, early pregnancy, family problems, need to generate income, among others. This problem hinders its ability to enter the dependent labour market, increasing by social inequality and the gender gap.
“This program is a great contribution to reducing the educational gap that exists in our country, especially in women. Despite being in times of pandemic, we still have to make this effort, that is why for those women who have connection problems, we will help them so that they can do so that they can enter the platform that will allow them to finish their studies and close a stage in their lives. This is the hallmark of Country Commitment, concrete steps to overcome multidimensional poverty,” prodemu President Cecilia Morel said.
Given the health and social contingency currently living in the country, the learning will be carried out remotely, so the woman will have a virtual training platform, where they can find the contents of each unit, as well as exercises and evaluations. This platform will be enabled throughout the intervention, so each attendee will be able to plan the study of the contents. The highlight of this is that the title will be certified by the Ministry of Education.
The AIEP professional institute will have psychopedagogical students as women’s tutors, reaching coverage of 2,360 enrolled to participate in the process of leveling and validating studies for work purposes, in the 16 regions of the country.
For Paola Diez, national director of Prodemu, this validation of studies “will have work purposes and contributes to the process of empowerment of women, by generating a space of self-recognition as workers, developing employability skills and projection for their dependent job insertion”.
In the case of rural women this figure is even higher, with 44.1% of women in the institution who have not completed middle education, leading to a taboo and embarrassment subject.
In order to be part of this online initiative, women must meet the following requirements: having approved 8th basic, having digital tools and knowledge, having a cell phone or computer.
