President Andrés Manuel López Obrador said he will look at the disappearance of more than 100 autonomous bodies and that he could present a constitutional reform initiative to eliminate the Energy Regulatory Commission (CRE) and other agencies.
«They were created by law, reform is required here, even constitutional,» he said this morning.
-Are you going to present them?-, you were asked.
«In time, little by little, but we have to adjust the government to the new reality,» the representative replied.

«There are so many, people don’t even know they exist because they never did anything for the people, but keeping all these agencies costs a lot and it’s budget money, money from the people, and what we’re looking for is for the budget money to reach the people,» he said.
He said the National Electoral Institute (INE), the National Institute of Transparency, Access to Information (INAI), as well as the Energy Regulatory Commission (CRE) and others are on a budget-
«Non-governmental agencies became fashionable and it turns out that it was kept from the government budget.»
In the case of CRE, López Obrador noted that the regulatory body has 551 working places, «it is as if they have constituted a new unit».

The representative said that agencies like CRE no longer have a reason to be, because people voted for change.
«This is a product of the so-called energy reform that was done to privatize Petróleos Mexicanos and the Federal Electricity Commission, but it is a single agency. Just as this is six and you can already imagine the expenses,» he said.
