Morelia, Michoacán.- Due to the contingency by COVID-19 and respecting the healthy distance, in the Children’s Hospital “Eva Sámano de López Mateos”, of the Ministry of Health of Michoacán (SSM), the Neonatal Auditory Sieve is being carried out.
The study is conducted on Mondays of each week on a schedule from 09:00 to 12:00 hours, to newborns and up to 2 months of age, for which they must present the vaccination card and CURP of the minor, as well as CURP of the mother or father.
In order to avoid crowds and take care of the health of children, only one small group is cared for per day, for which it is important to schedule an appointment at 3 12 25 20 or arrive directly to the hospital at the aforementioned time.
This simple, fast, painless or un discomfort test allows to identify hearing loss or deafness in newborns; if detected in the first three months of life, there are methods that can avoid limitations in a child’s integral development, mainly in language and learning.
The SSM recommends that when going to the medical unit to study babies, it is important for parents to take preventive measures, such as using mouth cover, maintaining healthy distance, not kissing, hand or hugging, and washing or disinfecting hands frequently.
