Through a statement, Alexander’s parents reported that on 24, 26 and 27 June they received intimidation at home by people living in the same village, facts they reported in the Prosecutor’s Office and the Oaxaca Human Rights Defender’s Office, as well as the Office in Mexico of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights.
In addition, this Wednesday, July 8, they received a direct threat through the social network Facebook.
The account “Acatlán con Adán”, which refers to the municipal president Adam Maciel Sosa, wrote to them: “Forgetting what happened chamaco leave you blowjobs and endangering the asshole do not kiere people problems but you keep messing with the pattern do not look for more problems that you already look at that” (sic).
For Alexander’s parents, threats are motivated by the demand for truth and justice for their child.
“These incidents pose a real and imminent danger. In the face of this, we demand that the authorities of security, procurement and administration of justice and defense of human rights in Oaxaca protect and guarantee our integrity and life through the relevant institutional mechanisms,” they said.
Virginia Gomez and Teodoro Martínez called for a meeting with the governor to talk about their case, and the justice authorities to investigate the threats. They also asked the PAN, the party to which the building of Acatlán de Pérez Figueroa belongs, to help keep the murder of their son unpunished.
The U.S. Embassy and the UN Human Rights Office called for their intervention, and thanked the young man and his family for their support.
