The “slight improvement” appears to be confirmed in the last epidemiological report of the Ministry of Health, since as recorded, only Puente Alto, in the Metropolitan Region, and Antofagasta are the communes in the country with more than a thousand active cases.
The document, with data recorded until 6 a.m. on Sunday, July 12, indicates that unlike the report of 19 July, which said that there were 5 communes in the MRI with more than a thousand active cases, now only the commune of the southeast sector of the capital, which registers 1,118 contagions, remains.
The Farm is the only one that exceeds 300 active cases per 100 thousand inhabitants. Significant improvement since in weeks ago, this same commune and another recorded up to 600 contagions.
The total number of active cases in MRI, meanwhile, is 15,907.
In regions, only Antofagasta exceeds one thousand, as it has 1,065, which confirms the complicated present of Covid-19 in the north. Calama, for example, has an active case incidence rate of 381.4 per 100 thousand people, the largest in communes with more than 50 thousand inhabitants. The same figure is available in Rengo, in the region of O’Higgins, a commune that enters quarantine today.
As for the deceased, there is a difference in what is reported in the report with what this day has been said by the Ministry of Health. According to the document, 8,264 people have died so far as of that date as “cases killed due to Covid-19 with and without laboratory confirmation, according to information provided by DEIS-MINSAL with cut at 12-07-20 and which are reported in Epivigila as confirmed or probable cases of Covid-19”.
However, this day the Minsal reported 7,069 deaths.
The epidemiological report does not clarify whether the figure given is that obtained from cases recorded by the Department of Statistics and Information of the Minsal (DEIS) in its weekly report. The latter accounted for confirmed deaths and 3,484 suspects until last Saturday, for a possible total of 11,227.
In terms of total contagion, the 33rd minsal report further states that as of 12 July, 356,695 contagions have occurred in Chile, considering both those with laboratory confirmation (317,657) and probable ones (39,038).
