The MTV network refused to post videos of the band because the initial cover showed a robot rapist based on a painting by Robert Williams, and which was offensive according to television managers. The musicians in a marketing strategy authorized the change of cover but included the original, within the album. This new choice of cover showed a crucifix with the gang members’ skulls, but also did not convince MTV. Finally David Geffen, president of the company that released the album, begged the network’s representatives to pass the first cut of the album «Welcome to the Jungle». MTV agreed to pass it on a Sunday at 4 a.m. It was the most requested topic for the remaining 24 hours and the chain knew it had no choice. The Gun N’Roses had entered everyone’s house to stay.
