translated from Spanish: Young Afghans designed prototype mechanical fan to fight coronavirus in that country

A major scientific breakthrough achieved a group of women from Afghanistan, who designed a prototype of an American mechanical fan that costs $20,000. But the one manufactured by these women is worth $700 and aims to be used in hospitals across the country.
The young women took about three months to manufacture this item, in which they received online advice from specialists from Harvard University. One of the model’s designers, Somaya Faruqi, commented that “most patients with coronavirus die because they can’t breathe, so we decided to build a fan here. We built this fan hoping it can be used in hospitals.”
Afghanistan’s Health Minister Ahmad Jawad Osmani stressed that “the Afghan youth robotics team has built some fans and we are in the process of assessing the quality of their devices. The machine must be tested on humans and then we can use them in hospitals. We really appreciate your work.”
It should be remembered that in Afghanistan nearly 35,000 people have tested positive for covid-19 and more than a thousand people have died as a result of the disease. This medical model would contribute to the lack of mechanical fans, where there are around 800 devices in that territory.
