Chilpancingo, Gro.- On the night of July 24, a popular Mexican supermarket chain located south of Chilpancingo, Guerrero, Mexico, was shut down by local town officials and National Guard staff, after a video was viralized on social media showing the lack of security measures implemented on the site. The establishment decided to announce a series of offers in search of attracting more people and increasing sales during the pandemic, which is complicated for most; what the managers didn’t stop was that early in the morning, at about 6:00 a.m., dozens of people gathered outside waiting for the opening. According to local media information, the Secretary of Municipal Public Security, Ofelio Romualdo Aguilar Carmona, indicated that the supermarket did not comply with the hygiene measures requested under Operation Covid-19, considering that the region continues with the “orange traffic light”. It is worth mentioning that it is the first case of closure of a department store presented in the capital of Guerrero since the contingency began, more than three months ago.
