The PSA Group announced that it began production of the new Peugeot 208 at the plant located in El Palomar. The second generation of hatchback will be produced in Argentina, replacing its predecessor who was of Brazilian origin. With this release, which will take place in the coming months, the new PSA CMP modular platform will debut. According to Peugeot, it gives you performance, robustness and comfort for a better driving experience.
Production of the new Peugeot 208 was required for an investment of $320 million from 2016, when the entire transformation of the plant began in El Palomar.
«The new Peugeot 208 is the result of intense work by our teams with the auto parts sector and the union. This launch marks a new phase for the PSA Group in Latin America, reaffirming the commitment to the country,» said Patrice Lucas, Latin America President of the Group.For the development of the model, around 600 employees worked in Latin America and Europe, dedicating more than 8,000 hours in training for production teams and around 620,000 working hours for the development of the project.
