translated from Spanish: Nearly 400,000 dependent workers who worked only a few months in 2019 will be able to apply for the middle class bond

The Internal Revenue Service reported that as of today workers who are paid only a few months of 2019, because they are – for example – on medical leave, they will be able to apply for the Tax Contribution of up to $500,000 if they meet the requirements.
This measure mainly benefits women who last year were for a few months with pre and post natal. To this end, since medical licences do not constitute income, the calculation of the average of all income during 2019 will consider only the months in which they had remuneration.
It should be remembered that under Law 21,252, dependent workers can access the bonus of up to $500 thousand if the average of all their rents during 2019 is equal to or greater than $400 thousand or less than or equal to $2 million. In addition, they must record in July a decrease of at least 30% of their income, product of the health emergency.
The Director of the Internal Revenue Service, Fernando Barraza, stated that in this way “about 400 thousand workers who did not reach an average value of $400 thousand can potentially access the Bonus, if they also recorded a decrease in their income in July, making it possible for this aid to reach the
sectors that today most require it.”
This same calculation is being applied in applications for the State Solidarity Loan, which allows taxpayers who result from the health emergency have faced a decrease of at least 30% in their income, accessing a 0% interest rate credit, a cap of $650 thousand for three months between August and December 2020.
The mechanism defined by the IBS is already being applied automatically. Dependent workers who are in the described situations should not take any special action, only apply for the bonus in www.sii.cl, Tax Contribution option for the Middle Class.

The IBS has been analyzing the evolution of the process to identify situations that were not provided for in the Act, and which became apparent when taxpayers applied for their bonus.
As of yesterday, in addition, the IBS finished debugging the last information provided by the Cesantía Fund Manager on Monday, August 10, allowing dependent workers to access the updated amount of income paid as Cesantía Insurance in July, excluding payments that do not correspond to that month, so that taxpayers are not affected by this situation in the calculation of the decrease of at least 30% in July income.
In addition, a special option was enabled so that dependent workers can confirm or modify their income in July and complete their application for access to the bonus of up to $500 thousand, giving the possibility to confirm or modify the amount of their July income, providing background according to the Act.
They may also be eligible to cancel their application by deleting their IBS records.
