Emmanuel Vazquez, cardiologist and specialist in Covid-19, made it clear that the isolation does not ensure that the infection lasts less and that in these cases it will depend on the viral load.
“There are two important problems: the first is that we don’t know about the virus because it’s new. So, there are patients whose infection may last longer. In my experience, I have patients who take a final test after 21 days and continue to test positive. What does it depend on? First, we know the disease and, second, how infected you were, the viral load,” said Vazquez Avila.
“If you got it because you hugged a boyfriend or kissed your girlfriend, there are several ways you may be exposed to the virus and viral load, the amount of virus that penetrates you. If you have a high viral load, the duration of infection will be longer.
