Emilio Lozoya’s trial is a matter of national interest so citizens should be aware of the development of the process against the former director of Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex). He therefore requested that the video that the former functioner gave to the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) be disseminated so that people would be aware.
At his morning conference on Monday, the president said due process should be respected but “this is a matter of national public interest, then you must know all the complaint that Mr. Lozoya made, all Mexicans should know what Mr. Lozoya denounced.”

He believes that there are three reasons why it should be made public: the people must know the truth; the stolen public money must be recovered and if people ask for it through a consultation, prosecute the former presidents involved.
“You must know all the money management, with the delivery of bribes. That you can see on social networks, on conventional television the video that is secured delivered Mr. Lozoya to the Prosecutor’s Office, know everything, because this helps to purify public life, nothing to hide, total transparency”.
On the trial of former presidents, López Obrador said that the people will decide whether or not it is done and clarified that “it is not revenge”.
“I would vote against being tried, but at the same time I would respect the majority decision of the people. In the event that people decide to be tried, they have the right to the defense, it’s not summary judgment,” he added.
