The Federal Commission for the Protection of Health Risks (Cofepris) and the National Commission against Addiction (Conadic) would be under the command of the Undersecretariat for Health Prevention and Promotion, headed by Hugo López-Gatell, in accordance with a draft agreement of the Ministry of Health (SSa) and which is reviewed by the National Regulatory Improvement Commission (Conamer).
The agreement would leave control over 13 SSa administrative units, out of the 10 he had so far in his charge so far.
The Cofepris would no longer be attached to the office of the Secretary of Health, Jorge Alcocer, and would go to the command of the undersecretary.
Same case of five National Centres: Gender Equity and Reproductive Health; Preventive Programs and Disease Control; HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control; For Children’s and Adolescent Health, and Blood Transfusion.
López-Gatell would also be in charge of the Psychiatric Care Services, which, together with the National Blood Transfusion Center, were under the command of the Coordinating Commission of National Institutes of Health and High Specialty Hospitals, which will now have four administrative units.
Other units that will be transferred to the control of the Undersecretariat for Prevention are the three general directorates of Epidemiology, Health Promotion and Health Information, as well as the technical secretariats of the National Mental Health Council and the National Council for accident prevention.
