This, which is undoubtedly excellent news, is a smart solution that involves good foreign policy trades to partner with Argentina for a regional solution. And the active participation of the private sector to have a safe and timely vaccine which puts Mexico at the forefront of the possible elimination of the global threat posed by coronavirus in addition to being installed in an unbeatable position so that we are the ones who access the vaccine before other countries, and, better yet, as explained by our president, Mexico has prepared itself with sufficient resources to be able to obtain doses that allow its distribution in our country to be universal, that is, for all, and free. With this participation of our country in the manufacture of one of the vaccines that presents the most advances it seems at last to be profiled the strategy of the current federal government for combating COVID-19, because, as the federal executive has said, a fairly respectable reserve of resources has been created to be able to buy enough doses of vaccine when there is one. Although the prevention strategy has been critical of the way it has been implemented, we cannot deny that, on this occasion, when going for a definitive solution to the pandemic is concerned, Mexico is now at the forefront based on undoubted facts such as that vaccines are known in our country. And to show it must be remembered that since 1973 the national vaccination programme has been established, and since then our country has been actively involved in important health achievements, such as the eradication of smallpox and the elimination of polio and the transmission of measles. In addition, for more than 40 years, our country has been building one of the most comprehensive vaccination schemes in the world, which currently protects from 14 diseases and has the virtue of being universal, mandatory and free as it is intended now to be the application of the SARS CoV-2 vaccine. So, even though the AZenstraeca vaccine and the University of Oxford , which is in mexico’ participation, is still in its last phase of testing and will have to spend a few months to check its effectiveness (November of this year when very early), the federal government has set out on the fastest route to take down this disease that affects everyone and with it recover, normality and also start thinking about rebuilding our battered economy. Finally, wherever it is seen, the announcement that Mexico will be part of the manufacture of a vaccine and the fact that it has the resources to acquire it to make its distribution in our country universal and free is the best news that we could have received at the moment, because it means the beginning of the end of the COVID-19 pandemic. Congratulations!
