Hurricane Laura, a category 1 on the Saffir-Simpson scale, is located 345 kilometers north of Rio Lagartos, Yucatan, so federal authorities warn it will cause heavy rains in at least three states.
According to the National Weather Service, Laura’s cloud bands will cause very heavy rains in Campeche, Yucatan and Quintana Roo.

The authorities’ most recent report notes that Laura is advancing at 28 kilometres per hour, with sustained winds of 130 km/h and streaks of 155 km/h.

Authorities warned the people living on the Yucatan and Quintana Roo coast lines to take precautions for rain, wind and swell, as well as follow the civil protection directions in their localities.
Rains in other states
On the other hand, the authorities noted that the low pressure zone off the coast of Oaxaca, “in interaction with an intertropical convergence zone over the coasts of the South Pacific”, can cause rainfall of 150 to 250 millimetres in Guerrero, Oaxaca, Puebla and Veracruz.
They also notice a 40% chance of cyclonic development south of Oaxaca in the next 48 hours, as well as other possible development off the coasts of Colima and Jalisco,
These phenomena favor the entry of moisture into the west of the country and will cause rains in Michoacán, Colima, Jalisco and Nayarit.
