Mexico. – Grupo Modelo revealed that a few days ago it reached an agreement with the Tax Administration Service (SAT) to settle income tax differences (ISR), through which it paid approximately 2 billion pesos.
In a statement, the company explained that the above is a result of the auditing body’s revisions for fiscal years 2013, 2014 and 2016. «In Grupo Modelo we recognize the openness and dialogue we have had with the SAT to reach this agreement. Since our founding 95 years ago, we have always been committed to the economic growth of the country, the development of the communities where we operate and respect for the legal framework. We are convinced that this agreement is for the sake of Mexico,» said Grupo Modelo’s Legal and Corporate Affairs Vice President Raúl Escalante.
On May 29 of the current year, Fomento Económico Mexicano (Femsa), owner of the Oxxo convenience stores, agreed with the SAT, the payment of 8 billion pesos.
«(Femsa) has agreed to finalize differences of interpretation that existed on taxes paid abroad without recourse to judicial bodies,» the company said in a statement sent to the Mexican Stock Exchange (BMV) on the aforementioned date.
On May 25, the Walmart company of Mexico also reached an agreement with the tax authority, for which it paid 8.079 million pesos, for the sale of the Vips restaurant chain to Alsea.
«The payment will be recorded in our consolidated income statement for the three months ending June 30, 2020,» the company said.
