Mexico City.- During the sixth Welfare Conference held today at the National Palace, the Elisa Acuña Scholarship Program was presented, which is part of the National Wellness Scholarship Program Benito Juárez, which aims to promote the professionalization of students and teachers of Higher Education.
This program has different modalities such as: Support for Maintenance, Professional Practices, Social Service, Degree Support, National and International Mobility, Training, Excellence and Contingencies and serves almost 400 thousand students from state and national public universities, among which are the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), the National Polytechnic Institute (IPN), the Autonomous University of Mexico (UAM) , the National Pedagogical University (UPN) and the National Institute of Anthropology and History (ENAH).
As of August 31, 2020, 227,357 scholarships have been awarded to low-income students studying at 653 higher education institutions nationwide.
In September, calls will be published for the modalities of Maintenance, UnaM International Mobility, Training, Social Service and Professional Practices, Initiation or completion of Degree and Excellence, and aims to reach 164,751 more students during 2020.
The national coordinator of Scholarships for Welfare Benito Juárez, Leticia Animas Vargas, presented the advances in the payment of scholarships during the last two bimestres, highlighting that the Benito Juárez Scholarship for Basic Education is covered at 99%, and of the 3.5 million families registered, 3.4 million have received payment from the bimestheres March-April and May-June.
He noted that the Benito Juárez Universal Higher Middle Education Scholarship, which registered 3.9 million students, has an 84% advance equivalent to 3.32 million fellows and fellows, and that payments will continue to be covered through different means, as their scholarship is guaranteed
