Ten years have passed since we last saw Prince of Persia, one of the founding gaming franchises, with the game simply titled Prince of Persia, which was the second reboot of the series in less than five years. Since then Ubisoft, the company that owns the rights, replaced the prince’s pirouettes with the parkour and hidden weapons of assassins from the Assassin’s Creed series, which for many became the spiritual successor to Prince of Persia.
The captured leak
A few weeks ago the Guatemalan chain Max uploaded to its listings a new product simply titled Prince of Persia Remake on PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch, accompanied by an image in the style of one of the games of the Time Arenas trilogy, the most successful of the character. According to the list the new version will be available in November, probably on all platforms on the market. The remake is estimated to be a relaunch of the Arenas of Time trilogy, composed by Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, Prince of Persia: Warrior Within and Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones, originally released on PlayStation 2, PC and Xbox between 2003 and 2005.
If confirmed, this would be the second relaunch of the series, as there was a high-definition version available on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2010.La leak was confirmed by one of the industry’s great informants, journalist Jason Schreier, on two occasions: first reacting to the leak saying that “the chains love to ruin Ubisoft’s surprises” , and recently saying without laps on his podcast that the company “plans to announce a series of games like the remake of Prince of Persia”.
The Prince of Persia trilogy should be announced during the Ubisoft Forward event planned for this Thursday, September 10 at 16 hours in Argentina. The company promises “big ads and new games,” plus more material from announced games like Far Cry 6, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and Watch Dogs: Legion.
