translated from Spanish: Journalist Julio Valdivia murders journalist in Veracruz

On Wednesday afternoon, the lifeless body of journalist Julio Valdivia Rodríguez was found in the Tezonapa region, in the bordering area between Veracruz and Oaxaca.
The reporter worked for the newspaper El Mundo de Córdoba, which confirmed the event to Animal Politics.
“Unfortunately, this afternoon the decapitated body of journalist Julio Valdivia, who covered the Tezonapa region for this publishing house, was found. The find was among the railroad tracks in the Motzorongo community, where his motorcycle was also located,” the newspaper said.
For its part, the State Commission for the Care and Protection of Journalists (CEAPP) condemned the event as “homicide”, and announced that it will initiate proceedings to follow up on the authorities’ investigations to clarify the event.
CEAPP noted that Julio Valdivia did not have any special protection measures, “because until the time of the aggression it had not reported to this Commission any situation or threat that it considered a risk to its security”.
The State Prosecutor’s Office has not yet ruled on the event.
Veracruz is one of the most dangerous entities to practice journalism in Mexico. Just last March 31, journalist María Elena Ferral, from the Journal of Xalapa, was shot dead at papantla’s municipal head.
